The OPEN Forum aims to promote the welfare of older people in the North Edinburgh area by providing a platform to address relevant issues affecting them, and to improve access to appropriate information and advice. We aim to encourage older people to influence decision-making by generating a positive awareness of older people's needs.

The Forum also aims to promote active citizenship e.g. involvement of older people and older people's groups within North Edinburgh to develop and co-ordinate a strategy for older people.

The Forum is managed by a steering group of 12 older people who meet on a monthly basis and open sessions for all older people in the community are held on a quarterly basis. Each summer the Forum organises a summer conference with important guest speakers on a theme of interest to the wider community.
