PEP

What We Do

PEP delivers services to over 900 people locally. Services include:

Accessible Transport :

PEP currently operates 9 minibuses which are used to support local older people's groups and individuals on a weekly basis. These buses can also be hired by local community projects e.g. youth groups, schools and church groups.

Shopping:

PEP provides dedicated grocery shopping trips twice per week. The destination is changed regularly for variety.

Visiting / Information Service:

PEP operates a visiting service / information service whose aim is to 'take the community' to older people who would otherwise be unable to access community facilities and to reduce isolation amongst those who are housebound.

Weekend Resource:

PEP manages and supports a weekend resource for older people aged 50+ who may suffer from isolation and stress.

Neighbourhood Group:

PEP provides day services 4 days per week for adults with enduring mental health issues and adults with learning difficulties/disabilities. The service is provided by referral only.

Volunteer Recruitment:

Volunteers extensively support all PEP's activities. PEP offers training and on- going support to facilitate their contribution.

OPEN Forum:

PEP supports and manages the OPEN FORUM, North Edinburgh 's forum for older people, to engage in discussion and debate about services and issues that matter to them.

Lifelong Learning:

PEP is committed to promoting lifelong learning opportunities for service users and volunteers. Alongside a dedicated IT strategy, PEP plans and develops learning programmes aimed at meeting older people's needs. PEP also offers a dedicated literacy and numeracy programme for people who, for whatever reason, find reading and writing difficult.

Clubs:

PEP both operates and develops 5 day care clubs across North Edinburgh to provide opportunities for older people to participate in social and learning opportunities.

Gardening:

PEP provides gardening services for older and vulnerable people in North Edinburgh . Under the support and supervision of a paid member of staff, PEP's volunteers will carry out basic gardening maintenance. The service normally operates a 4 weeks waiting list.

Homecare:

Trained and Disclosure checked Home Care assistants offer a range of services, such as: shopping, cleaning, laundry..etc to people aged 50+ in their own homes. It may be for one off occasions or for regular support with particular tasks. Initial home visits are arranged for assessment purposes.

 

In addition to these regular services PEP also runs a summer and winter programme jammed pack with special events, outings and fun.
